Re: Memory usage issues with Iredmail Pro

We eventually did a reboot of the server and that cleared up the issue.  My co-worker said there were 3000 mail daemons he removed from the mail queue. Is that something that might be caused by the application?
Would there be any services that can be restarted that would do the same thing to the application as physically shutting down the server?  In the event we are unable to get authorization to do it (like after hours) it would be good to know we can restart a service or services that would reset the application.

Thanks

I think i found the origen of the problem, in the initial configuration I make a mistake naming wrong the domain, I Found the problem in the ldap conf file so I think that must be the cause of the malfunction, now im trying to figure it out all the conf files that I must fix to make the system work !!!!!!!!!

Now i want that in the vmail folder is a folder named exmaple.org.
In this folder i want the mailboxes for the domain example.org.

Still it's not clear what the issue is and what the root cause is, so no comment here. sad

It's normal. If you want to block some user/domain, you need to add them as member of blacklists, there's no pre-loaded blacklists.

By the way, since iRedMail-0.9.3, we removed Policyd/Cluebringer in iRedMail. Whitelisting, blacklisting, greylisting, throttling, are all done by iRedAPD. here's DRAFT document to help you manage iRedAPD:

Hi Team,

could you please shed any lignt on the issue below. A user reported me that he couldn't send mail to gmail.com domain, and he gets the issue (via webmail roundcube)

SMTP error (501):  "999@127.0.0.1"
(5.1.7 Bad sender address syntax)

I have tried to send a mail from my maibox in the same domain where user mailbox located, and sending was fine and successfull, then I've reset user's password and send the same mail to the same address in gmail.com domain from user's mailbox, and it was successfull, (but I was trying it from differents machines phisically) User is located at one city, I am on another..

It's really very strange issue, I can't detect this issue, but user still have the issue.

I checked the logs, and when user was trying to send mail, I found the next in in /var/logs/mail.log

Jan 22 08:44:36 mail postfix/submission/smtpd[8924]: warning: Illegal address syntax from mail.strelka55.su[127.0.0.1] in MAIL command: <999@127.0.0.1>

I see that errors in the log, but I still can't reproduce this issue, only user is facing it.

Could you please advise?

Re: how to whitelist

it doesn't seem to work; adding a new whitelist entry:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "./wblist_admin.py", line 13, in <module>
    from libs import utils, wblist
ImportError: cannot import name wblist

if this is trying to read the table wblist from my amavisd db, it's empty as i never used that function. i only started now under iredapd.

thoughts?

But your draft docs did point me in the right direction and i was able to manually add entries directly into my iredapd db / greylisting_whitelists table. and it seems to work fine.

Re: Smart Host FreeBSD

I am writing this for posterity.  Maybe it will help someone since there are not good tutorials out there.   I was able to get the iredmail install on FreeBSD to work with using posfix to relay to a smarthost.

After much digging I realized that the port used to compile postfix is complied without cyrus SASL support.  So I just recompiled it with cyrus SASL.

1. cd /usr/ports/mail/postfix
2. make config
3. Check the appropriate boxes for SASL support.
4. make deinstall reinstall
5. Use Cyrus SASL instead of Dovecot SASL (Comment out or delete this line smtpd_sasl_auth_enable = yes)
6.ADD smtp_sasl_auth_enable = yes
  smtp_sasl_security_options = noanonymous
  smtp_sasl_password_maps = hash:/usr/local/etc/postfix/saslpasswd
  smtp_always_send_ehlo = yes
  relayhost = yoursmarthost.net:port
7. postmap /usr/local/etc/postfix/saslpasswd
8. Restart Postfix

Google "postfix smarthost" to understand how to create a saslpasswd file.

Seems to be working fine until now.
