SpamAssassin Bayes doesn't really work

I wanted to use sa-bayes so I followed this tutorial:

http://www.iredmail.org/docs/store.spam … n.sql.html

But the first strange thing is, I haven't even used the Spam button in Roundcube but the bayes database is growing fast, like >8000 counts in under 5 minutes.

Second: I've sent a testmail with the text from /usr/share/doc/spamassassin/examples/sample-spam.txt to test if it gets the header [SPAM] or [Junk]
but it doesn't even show up at all. Not in the mail log /var/log/mail.log or in iRedAdmin...
Is it getting deleted by amavis or so? But even then it should show up in the mail log as recieved, right?

Ok If i send

This is the GTUBE, the
        Generic
        Test for
        Unsolicited
        Bulk
        Email

If your spam filter supports it, the GTUBE provides a test by which you
can verify that the filter is installed correctly and is detecting incoming
spam. You can send yourself a test mail containing the following string of
characters (in upper case and with no white spaces and line breaks):

XJS*C4JDBQADN1.NSBN3*2IDNEN*GTUBE-STANDARD-ANTI-UBE-TEST-EMAIL*C.34X

You should send this test mail from an account outside of your network.

The Mail doesn't pop up in the log or whatever, but when I send

I recieve it and it shows up in the mail log

As a temporary testing, disabling postscreen service and it works.

If you need to change any settings in /opt/www/iredadmin/libs/default_settings.py, please copy the parameters to /opt/www/iredadmin/settings.py with new value, then restart Apache or uwsgi (if you're running Nginx) service to load new changes.

As you can see, postscreen hands over the smtp connection to the real smtpd process, so no problem in this case.

What's your issue now?

Short answer is: NO. iRedMail doesn't use any text file on user's home directory to store mail forwarding addresses.

Search "ldap:" in our document page will give you few tutorials about creating new accounts:

the log that i showed you is when i comment out this option: "postscreen_upstream_proxy_protocol = haproxy"
when i use it, there is no option to send emails from webmail,imap-pop and activesync
there is no log that mention the problem in mail.log and in webmail i get error of "gateway timed out"

Thank you
Raz

This is what my /etc/apt/sources.list looks like below. It looks official to me!  I tried running the install script again and it error'd out the same.

root@mx:/etc/apt# cat sources.list

Hi, I nuked the server again and it worked this time.  Repetition is the mother of skill!

Processing of disabled accounts?

Hello Zhang!

After migration of some customers from iRedMail to Office 365, we disabled some of their domains in iRedAdmin.

That customer has other email mailboxes still existend and in active use on that iRedMail server.

When that customer sends us messages, they receive following error message:

Apr 19 04:10:05 mail postfix/smtpd[28477]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from mail-he1eur02lp0178.outbound.protection.outlook.com[213.199.180.178]: 554 5.7.1 <xxx@xxxxx.com>: Recipient address rejected: Policy rejection not logged in; from=<xxx@xxxxx.de> to=<xxx@xxxxx.com> proto=ESMTP helo=<EUR02-HE1-obe.outbound.protection.outlook.com>

Well, this is understandable but not desired.
Postfix checks for existance of the "from" address in the database and rejects the email.

There is no check performed to see if the whole domain xxxxx.de is disabled.

Is this a desired behaviour?

From a users point of view, if a domain is disabled (for administrative or other purposes), it should not cause these problems.
---OR---
Disabled domains may cause this problem, ok, but there must be a way to "archive" these domains.

Today the only solution I have to help that customer (actually enable him to send us email messages!) is to remove the whole domain from iRedAdmin.

Then all works as it should but there is no way to re-enable the domain or access the mail data for desaster-recovery or archive purposes.

So, what is the desired behaviour?
I don't know if we are hunting a bug or if we miss a feature smile

Best regards,

Bernhard

Oh well, I found the issue.
Another Mailserver is relaying mails to the iredmail server, and that relay server is blocking it before..

my bad, sorry

i cannot send messages from webmail(sogo) and activesync
are you sure that sogo doesn't connect locally to postfix in port 25?

Thank you,
Raz

So, now i've send the same Spam mail to the iredmail server 20 times and declared mail after mail as spam, the log shows me that it did the sa-learn --spam thing and the database is growing.

Is there any way to see why this mail is still not marked as spam?
I used guerrillamail.com to send the spam mails to have the same enviroment everytime.

Spamassassin score is everytime the same (DKIM_SIGNED=0.1,DKIM_VALID=-0.1,DKIM_VALID_AU=-0.1,RCVD_IN_DNSWL_NONE=-0.0001,SPF_FAIL=0.919)

If i remember correctly, SpamAssassin needs at least 200 DIFFERENT emails before applying the bayes result.

It's SOGo's fault. Check this 8-YEAR OLD issue:

- Support for SMTP SASL AUTH and SMTP TLS/SSL
  https://sogo.nu/bugs/view.php?id=31

Help update this issue to let SOGo developers know how important it is.

As a temporary solution, configure Postfix to listen on extra port (e.g. 10025), list your SOGo server in "-o mynetworks=".

Would you mind sharing why moving to Office 365?

Works as designed.

If domain ABC.com is hosted on iRedMail server, emails sent from user@ABC.com must be sent from your server with SMTP AUTH. If no smtp auth and from other server, that's called forged email.

To fix it, you can try to add setting below in /opt/iredapd/settings.py, then restart iredapd service:

ALLOWED_FORGED_SENDERS = ['user@ABC.com']

If you want to bypass whole domain, use 'ABC.com" instead in above parameter.

Thank you for your response.  I will give this a try!
